Mini XM-177 Modifications

The Mini XM-177 is a cheap airsoft gun with a very simple design.

Disassembly

  • Remove the orange tip. It pulls straight out.
  • Remove the 10 screws holding the gun together.
  • When you open the gun, the springs will probably fly everywhere. Do not lose them.

    Gun Modifications

  • Remove the motor/battery/switch assembly, it's not screwed on
  • Solder the wire that runs to the relay across the switch that attaches to the trigger. If you leave the switch attached then the gun will still fire with the trigger, which is convenient for testing.
  • Remove safety switch. The screw, spring, and piece are discarded. Alternatively, you can leave the safety in and drill a new hole for the wire to exit through.
  • Feed the switch wire through the hole, or through your own hole.
  • Reassemble the gears and motor. Note that the switch needs to have the two soldered tabs facing AWAY from the trigger. The motor should be rotated until it seats, as pictured.
  • If mounting the webcam to the gun, drill and attach the camera mount. Make sure the placement won't interfere with the mechanics of the gun or the hopper.
  • Attach Part D to the "magazine" portion of the gun. No mechanics go through there, so it's easy to drill holes.
  • Reassembly

  • The gears also have to be assembled in the correct order.
  • The large spring goes inside the main box, which has a notch which fits in a groove. The small spring connects to the backing plate, which then fits through the hole on the main box. Put everything together, then fit the entire assembly into place.
  • The insides of the gun reassembled
  • There are 5 screw types, 1/4", 3/8" round, 3/4", 3/4" round, 5/8". See the graphic for which ones go where.
